TARARSET Dog Dens started as a result of being owned by three Gordon Setters.
The first Taraset Gordon Setter arrived eleven years ago. I had heard about dog crates but thought of them as ‘cages’. I had no intention of putting my dog in one. The house and furniture suffered through the chewing phase as well as my peace of mind - she is being quiet what is she chewing, can I go out without worrying what state the house would be in when I got back? She was very partial to books!
The second Taraset Gordon arrived five years later. I had problems with my older girl accepting the new addition, so invested in a dog crate. It worked perfectly and soon became their ‘den’. It gave all of us peace of mind. The youngster would be safe when I had to go out, the house survived her chewing phase and my older girl did not have to put up with a boisterous puppy all day. My older girl, having never been crate trained, also took to the crate, there were times when I wanted to put the youngster in her den, but I would have to negotiate with my older girl to come out first.
When the third Taraset Gordon arrived, I had fine tuned the crate training process and can honestly say I enjoyed her puppyhood phase, no worrying, anxiety or stress.
Holidays would not be the same without having my Taraset Gordon Setters with me. I have found there are a limited number of self-catering accommodation establishments that allow three dogs, but when I explain they have their ‘den’ I have found owners more accepting. It also gives me peace of mind, bringing three muddy, wet dogs into a house that is not yours and trying to keep them in one area while they dry out is no easy task, having their ‘den’ makes all the difference. We can all relax and enjoy our holiday. The only problem is transporting the dens, three large dogs means three large dens and not a lot of space left in the car for anything else! This gave me the idea for TARASET Dog Dens – eliminate the need to transport by providing a crate rental service.
I have found their ‘den’ invaluable and keep finding new uses. When my older girl had surgery, when they have been lame or ill, they have found comfort in their ‘den’, how many times have I been told by vets ‘try to keep her quiet and let her rest’ – the den is perfect and actually gives you a chance to fulfil the vets demands!
I have spoken to friends and they tell me of their uses for their dens : staying with not so dog friendly friends and family, introducing a new dog into the house, when the grandchildren come to stay and the resident dog is not used to children, separating bitches and dogs during the bitches season, providing that safe haven for your dog, travelling in cars, the list keeps growing!
